HOW MUCH IS SHIPPING?

We've done our best to try to keep shipping costs to a minimum. We all know how it feels to be shopping only to be stunned at the shipping fee at check out. Shipping fee is a flat rate of $7.00 anywhere in the USA.  We are a small business and do our best to pack your order in a quality and thoughtful manner.

Shipping is FREE if you spend $35 or more. Not hard to do when you think about it. Stock up! Our soaps make great gifts too.

WHAT MAKES YOUR SOAPS DIFFERENT THAN STORE BOUGHT SOAPS?

Our soaps are made with simple ingredients. We thoughtfully formulate each recipe, using fresh, pure and often organic ingredients. We hand craft our soap in small batches, hand cut and cure them the old fashioned, natural way for at least 6 weeks. Because we hand cut our soap, the cuts may be a little rough and some sizes bigger than others, but they will always be at least 4 oz bars. Most will be more than 4 oz. If by chance it's smaller, we'll add in a little sampler of the same bar or another.

We're made in the USA and specifically, always made in the Mojave Desert.

WHY DOES YOUR SOAP LINE CONSTANTLY CHANGE?

We are always tapping into the resources available in the Mojave Desert and that changes depending on time of year what is plentiful at any given time. While we can duplicate a recipe if needed, we are always on to newer soaps, with fresh available ingredients. That's what's so awesome about our line of soaps. You just never know what's coming up.  Check us out regularly and take a look at our Ingredients page for more information. And if there's something you just love and would like to reorder, send an email and we'll do our best to get it back in the lineup.

HOW ARE YOUR SOAPS MADE?

Our soaps are made using the cold process method. Because we like to incorporate infused oils, plant purees, juices and powders, we don't like the idea of cooking out our ingredients with a hot process.  Do we use caustic soda? Yes. You can't make soap without using caustic soda (commonly known as lye). Once the caustic soda is mixed with the oils, they combine in a chemical reaction called saponification which results in a new product - 'soap'. This reaction takes some time to complete. Once the lye solution and the oil have been mixed together, the mixture is ready to be poured into a mold and insulated so that the chemical reaction can continue.  It usually takes 24 hours before it hardens enough to remove from the mold and cut into bars. But it's not ready to use yet. It still takes 6-8 weeks for the bar of soap to "cure". The saponification process takes a few weeks and the rest of the time is to allow for evaporation of the liquid that was used in the soap making process. This is done so the soap doesn't melt quickly when you use it in the shower. The longer you cure, the better the bar of soap. We usually cure 6-8 weeks.

HOW LONG WILL MY MOJAVE DESERT SOAP BAR LAST?

Our soap is softer than commercial made soaps because we don't use hardening chemicals or synthetics. We also "superfat" our soap which means we make sure there's an extra percentage of oils and butters in the soap to leave your skin moisturized. That's all a good thing for your skin.  Here are a few things you can do to make your soap last long.  Between uses, place your soap in a well drained soap dish.  Never store your soap where it sits in water.  If this happens and your soap becomes soft, place in a dry area to dry out for a few days. It'll harden up and will be just fine to use once it drys out.  With regular use and proper storage, your bar of soap should last for about 4 weeks.
